4th Czech Aerobic Open 2009
There were a total of 186 trophies that was handed out to winners at the 4th Czech Aerobic Open. The competition is now well and truly established on the FIG calendar. The weekend attracted over 500 competitors from 8 different countries including as far afield as Australia, together with, Austria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic. There were a total of 280 routines performed throughout the championships. The final rounds were broadcasted by Czech Television.
The Romanian team competed for the first time at the Czech Aerobic Open. Historically they are proposed to be of the best in the world of aerobic gymnastics. The first Romania representative Marius Petruse comfortably won the junior IM category.
It was a thrilling and breathtaking battle throughout the junior and senior categories trios as they fought for the top spots. Among the junior trios at last won the Czech trio included Marketa Vitkova, Julie Ondova and Pavla Frystakova from the local club named Aerobic Sport Centrum Zlin followed by their colleagues from the Czech national team from Liberec Tereza Kocova, Nikola Wernerova and Katerina Wernerova. The Czech trio won also in senior category, namely Andrea Cvachova, Marta Mrklasova and Marketa Burianova from Liberec followed by the silver Hungarian trio and by the bronze Australian trio.
It was anticipated that the toughest battles would be fought in the individual women categories. In senior category won brilliant Dóra Lendvay from Hungary, the second was Alexandra Horvat from Romania (the semi-final winner) and the third was Martina Perlacova from Slovakia.
One of the exciting competitions for the home crowd undoubtedly was in the junior individual woman category between highly experienced Hungarian Linda Bucsánszky (silver medallist from the World championships 2008 and from the European championships 2007) and the domestic star Monika Gerzova. Our Czech athlete faulted on the routine in the semi-final and became second after Linda. But in the final Monika fully focused and centred on the job in hand performing fantastically and achieved 1st place, Linda was 2nd and 3rd place belongs to Kristyna Bernatova from Liberec.
